Edelweiss

This bead left the collection in 2019.

Edelweiss in German means “noble and white”. The beautiful flower generally grows at altitudes between 1800 and 2700 meters and is known as the “ultimate love charm” of the mountains. Many a love-struck young man would try to win the heart of a lady by collecting edelweiss from those difficult-to-access crags and ledges high up in the Swiss Alps.
According to scientific investigations, edelweiss also has antioxidant agents. The popularity of this beautiful flower among Swiss is also demonstrated by the fact that it is pictured on the five-franc coin.

This bead was created for World Tour in Switzerland.

I have worked as a Goldsmith for Lise Aagaard since the summer of 2000. Surrounded by Trollbeads morning to evening, it had to happen – I designed my first bead. My family name is Schumann, the name of a famous Danish traveling circus, and Søren Nielsen once said to me, with a name like that you ought to make circus jewelry! That’s why my first bead is a circus clown.
